alt.binaries.e-books distributed electronic books as binary postings; in practice much of that traffic was unauthorised copies, and this directory preserves the entry as history, not as a source.
Early e-reader communities (the REB1200 era) referenced the group while the format wars played out — one such resource page still links this address.
