soc.culture.yugoslavia
Discussions of Yugoslavia and its people.
Created for one country and outliving it, soc.culture.yugoslavia became the shared room of a dissolving federation — through the wars of the 1990s it carried news relays, refugee messages and arguments of historic bitterness, crossposted with the successor-state groups as they split away one by one.
By the 2000s it hosted a quieter Yugonostalgia: shared music (rock from the SFRJ era), shared jokes, and the strange intimacy of people who had been one country arguing about whether they ever were.
